Devendra Sharma began his journey in Karate-Do at the age of eleven under the guidance of his elder brother and mentor, Naresh Sharma Kyoshi. Since then, he has dedicated his life to the rigorous study, practice, and teaching of authentic Japanese Karate-Do, becoming one of the leading senior instructors of Japan Karate-Do Nobukawa-ha Shito-Ryu Kai in India.
His technical excellence, commitment, and years of dedicated training earned him the rank of Rokudan (6th Dan Black Belt), formally awarded by Kuniaki Nobukawa Soke (9th Dan Shito-Ryu, 8th Dan Hanshi – JKF), along with recognition and evaluation from several internationally respected karate masters.
Currently serving as the Deputy Principal Instructor and Deputy National Director of JKNSK India, Devendra Sharma has spent more than sixteen years working alongside Naresh Sharma Kyoshi, contributing significantly to the development, promotion, and preservation of traditional Japanese martial arts throughout India. His leadership, technical expertise, and unwavering dedication have played a vital role in strengthening the organization and expanding its reach nationwide.
In addition to his traditional martial arts credentials, he is recognized by India's national karate governing authority as a Nationally Accredited Coach for Kata and Kumite. He also holds prestigious 'A' Grade Licenses as a National Kata Judge, National Kumite Judge, and National Kumite Referee, reflecting his comprehensive expertise in both instruction and competition officiating.
Over the years, he has trained and mentored students who have achieved distinction at district, state, national, and international championships. His teaching experience extends across a diverse range of individuals, including students, educators, armed forces personnel, business professionals, civilians, and public personalities.
Renowned for his disciplined approach to instruction and deep understanding of traditional Karate-Do, Devendra Sharma has helped countless practitioners develop not only physical fitness and self-defense capabilities, but also the essential martial virtues of self-discipline, confidence, respect, integrity, perseverance, and self-control.
Today, as the Honbu Dojo Instructor of JKNSK India, he continues to uphold the principles of authentic Japanese Budo while inspiring the next generation of karate practitioners through dedicated teaching, exemplary leadership, and lifelong commitment to martial excellence.
